Call of Duty MW3 Tips and Tactics for Spec Ops Mission and Survival Maps

I wanted to make a post on some of the basics used in the Call of Duty MW3 game which many take advantage of, and many may not talk about….. Some of us take these things for granted and don’t elaborate on them when we are writing articles trying to describe a battle scene or a walkthrough. Hope these Call of Duty Tips for Spec Ops and Mission Maps help.

Gather Intelligence

Like anything in this world, its best to use the internet to research some information that is available about the game you are playing. I am NOT talking about cheats, aimbots, hacks or other serious cheats.  I AM talking about doing some research on what type of enemy comes on each wave. Its important to know when the heavy stuff is coming, and being prepared for it. This game is NOT going to give you ample time for you to run and buy an airstrike or a predator missile after the round starts. Seperating yourself from your Team mate to run to the Air armory may put one, if not both of you in harms’ way.

So after you research when the Juggeranuts and the Helicopters come, you now have an idea  when you should have an airstrike or Predator missile in pocket. That can be done at least 1-2 waves before they show. There are four levels, or types of maps. Easy, Medium, Hard and Insane. The Call of Duty MW3 enemy patterns differ on each level of the map. Its best to find a reliable source that shows when Juggernauts and helicopters show for each dificulty level of map.

I have seen a lot of players panic when the crap is ready to hit the fan. Let me offer a scenario. Lets say we’re playing a Call of Duty Mw3 Spec Ops Survival map.It is above  Wave 15, and here come three Juggernauts, a few handfuls of regular CoD MW3 enemies and three helicopters. What do you do?

Stick Together

I like to think of things in groups of risk. Which of these can hurt you the most and where? Just one of the Helicopters can do some serious damage, and almost kill you with one burst of weapons fire. So it is best to try to stay in a covered walkway, or a room and cover as many entrances as possible. Try cross fire tactics if you have voice comms.

But remember, staying in one place too long will get you surrounded by the three Juggernauts and these guys don’t fool around. Juggernauts in Call of Duty MW3 are heavily armored, wrecking machines that often are found sprinting for a pretty good distance, coming for you or your Team mate.

Then you have a handful of CoD MW3 enemies that will require your attention as well. On the higher waves, these enemies tend to be thick with suicide bombers, which may make you wander out of your comfort zone. Don’t panic, you can eliminate these enemies as you have in the past. Just remember, no matter where you travel, a place under cover is alot better than out in the open until the helicopters are gone.

So how can you survive this? Its pretty easy if you think about it. One of the most important things you can do as a Team is stick together. Why? because by doing so and you hear the phrase “FLASH OUT !” usually means a Juggernaut is close to your Team mate and he is trying to take the Juggernaut out with a machine gun or assault rifle. Its easier to knock one of them down when you act as a Team, than to try to do it seperately, especially if there is more than one.

Minimum Essentials

After wave 5 you should carry either an airstrike or predator missile. You should ALWAYS carry at least two flash bang grenades. These grenades will typically stun the enemy for about 10 seconds and sometimes mean the difference between surviving the wave and the end of the game. Use these against heavily armored or large group of enemies when your Team mate is down. Throw the flash bang grenade close to where the enemies are, and then quicky sprint to your team mate and hit the “E” key to revive him. Once he is up, throw another flash bang grenade and run for cover.

I highly recommend getting your weapons of choice as soon as possible. In the first round I am going to try to get as much cash as I can. Ultimately anything above 3000 is great. I will let the enemies come to me ! If they mass near me, I can take more of them out quicker, massing up some incredible bonuses to gain cash. When 3000 is achieved, even in the middle of a round – you can buy an assault rifle. The assault rifle will allow you to get more kills and if you kill enemies in groups, the bonus cash will come alot quicker, and you’ll be able to buy a secondary weapon. The best bang for the buck is typically the Type 95 assault rifle, the G36C assault rifle or the ACR assault rifle. Those seem to pack the most punch while using a lower amount of ammo to eliminate the CoD MW3 enemies. Some will save up 7000 and get a Light Machine Gun right away.

Juggernaut Tactics

If a Juggernaut is behind you, and you are running away, zig-zag some. The movement will keep you from getting pelted from all of his bullets. Same thing applies to normal enemies as well. As for helicopters, they make a light “whirling” sound before the gatlin gun starts shooting. Simply find some cover – If caught outside, crouch behind any available cover and try to take as little damage as possible.

If I know that Juggernauts are coming, and my Team mate has a Predator missile in pocket, I will try to corral as many enemy in one spot as possible. When I hear the words, “predator missile inbound” I will throw a flash bang and run like crazy. That should be enough to wipe out most, if not all the enemies in that area.

Juggernauts are vulnerable to explosions of any type. They are vulnerable to shots in the head and neck when using gunfire. Juggernauts also will fire from the hip, which means if you are near some tall cover you can barely see over, the odds are the juggernaut cannot fire and hit you. Juggernauts tend to lock on to the closest Team mate, so one can play peek-a-boo with the Juggernaut while the other Team mate can stand off at a distance and empty alot of rounds on the Juggernauts, aiming for the head if at all possible.

Juggernauts  can be stupid sometimes. I have seen them walk right up to a crate I was hiding behind and walk in place, just looking at me. The objects I like to hide behind are head high on me so  the Juggernaut cannot shoot me back. They are alot easier to take out this way. Heck, I even have taken a Juggernaut out with a MP5 assault rifle with no issues.

Another tactic I have seen is, if a Juggernaut is EXTREMELY close to a team mate, they go prone. I think it confuses the heck out of the Juggernaut, and they don’t know how to react. Same with a Team mate that is down. If your down and a Juggernaut is close, try to make it to a corner or doorway. That way the Team mate can revive you easier. if your in a doorway, the Juggernaut will see trapped, because you are an obstacle it cannot get over.

If a team mate is down, do what you need to do to get over there and assist. You CAN throw grenades, use a predator missile, or airstrike, then go rescue them. When the Team mate is down, the revive and any armor they had is gone – they are simply in a limbo state. No matter what damages happen around them, they aren’t going to take any damages from the attacks you thow, so let the Call of Duty enemies have some damage !

You bought it now use it properly

All of this action in Call of Duty MW3 Spec Ops Survival maps costs ALOT of money. Its EXTREMELY important to concentrate on things you ABSOLUTELY need, rather than thinking you can spend all of your cash and have “plenty of time to mass cash later”.

Using alot of your cash after wave 5 on any Call of Duty MW3 Spec Ops Survival map may limit your chances of survival. Lets say you have those three Juggernauts to deal with; if you feel as a team your unable to knock all three of them down without getting cornered by all three, then the only option is airstrikes or predator missiles. At nearly 2500 each, you need to have 7500 cash in pocket in order to take these heavily armored wrecking machines out. In an emergency situation where your partner is down, surrounded by several Juggernauts and you have less than 30 seconds to do something and your out of cash, airstrikes and grenades, the game may well be over. Stockplie cash for a few necessities that work for you!

One VITAL thing to remember – when buying weapons. When you approach the weapon armory – that weapon in your hand is going to be replaced when you buy a new one, so make SURE you are holding a weapon you want to discard. I have made the mistake a few times under fire and have lost a Light Machine Gun (which cost 7000) and bought an Assault Rifle. So there is a need to pay attention to some things. No worries, you will eventually will become a pro at this.

Regular grenades have their use too; these will create chaos amongst the enemy causing them to scatter to avoid the explosion. So if your pinned in a corner and need a way out, throwing a frag (regular grenade) may create an opening for you to fight through. You dont have to be completely accurate with these. There mere presence of one of these on the ground can cause the CoD MW3 enemy to go into panic mode.

To make things more interesting in Call of Duty MW3, you can throw a Flash grenade to stun the enemy and then quickly follow with a regular grenade. This tactic works well at bottom of staircases, around corners and when enemies pile up behind crates. This combo is sure to eliminate several if not all of the enemy in the area.

Dont forget, you do NOT have to throw grenades line of sight. There is NOTHING wrong with bouncing a grenade off a wall, off the ground in front of you or off the ceiling. I typcally will use airstrikes, and bounce them off the ground at my feet. I then back up, and watch the Juggernaut approach the purple smoke. Once he is really close to that area and the airstrike has not come, you can always throw a flash bang grenade (stun grenade) so he stays in the kill radius.

Grenade Launcher Anyone?

Don’t Forget ! If you like Assault Rifles, some can be equipped with the grenade launder under barrel. This will be EXTREMELY useful against Juggernauts and groups of CoD MW3 enemies. Which rifles use the under barrel grenade launcher ? I am not going to do ALL the research for you – Hah !

Purple Death

Your team mate if they are paying attention will see the purple smoke ought to keep their distance from the Juggernaut, or be behind you. This way they are NOT drawing the Juggernaut(s) away from the predator missile or airstrike.

I LOVE the airstrikes. It means ANYTHING in the way where that airstrike is about to hit should be destroyed – helicopters included. So if the Team is situated togther I will typically show the other team mate that I have a smoke grenade (airstrike) in hand – no gun is evident, and I am ready to throw it when I see a Juggernaut approaching. The Team mate can either lay cover fire to keep the smaller enemy away, or have a flash bang ready to throw should it appear the Juggernauts may not remain in the kill radius of the airstrike.

Avoid $quandering Ca$h

Things I avoid in the game are the riot and delta team squads. To me, these get in the way and cost $5,000 – - way too much for what they do. They are OK, if you do NOT have sentries deployed and have an area to move around. In confined areas, these squads are always in the way and can block escape routes at times. They love to park in front of the sentry guns and take shots from them, especially the grenade launcher. At short range that is like a grenade going off, damaging all that is near. So choose your assets you use  for the situation at hand wisely.

Weapons…Choices, Choices….

Some of the Call of Duty MW3 hard core gamers suggest TWO different light machine guns. Some say to have an assault rifle and a light machine gun. To me, it depends on the difficulty of the map being played. Sure, I can afford to buy two light machine guns if I am playing a map which is deemed easy. I cannot afford 10,000-14,000 on an insane map where Juggernauts come on wave 4 or 5.

Pick a Number, any number

Another important note. Some items have the same bound key number. What I mean by this is, that for example –  the #4 key is assigned to Airstrikes, Predator missiles and sentry guns. So, that means you can only have one of those things in your pocket (bought but not used) at a time. So you should contemplate buying a sentry gun for immediate use, before buying a airstrike or predator missile for later use. Buy the sentry gun and place it, then go get the airstrike for later use.

Choose a Tactic and use of those tactics

Choose a tactic that works for you and stick with it. Some people like to use big guns and place claymores around for extra kills. Some like to have a sentry gun and claymores. What ever you feel comfortable with is good. Just remember, when placing claymores, hide those things around corners and FACING AWAY from where the team is hiding.

Keep the Claymores away from your area ! Should you have to quickly exit the area and there are enemies out there, and several are coming up trying to strike you, and a claymore is near – it IS going to go off. So, STRATEGICALLY PLACING claymores is VERY important. If I feel threatened by a claymores position, I will typically stand back, zoom in on the claymore with my rifle and shoot it. I’d rather have no protection, than a claymore in a haphazard location.

There is NO gain for placing claymores close together. If one goes off, they may all go off at the same time. I will typically make sure Claymores are at least 5 or more paces apart from each other. I will place claymores near corners, or close to obstacles like crates or piles of wood.

Back yourself into a corner and then place a claymore. If a Juggernaut, or any enemy for that matter sees a claymore out in the open, they will shoot it, and take limited damage. If the claymore is hidden at a 90 degree angle at a corner, they cannot see it and take damage from it.  A “normal” (non-shielded) Juggernaut will fall if you sucessfully hit him with 6 or so claymores, which is VERY cost effective. That way, if I place them in the same locations,  I KNOW which are mine, and may be able to distinguish which ones the Call of Duty enemies may have layed down. Again you can shoot claymores at a distance, and the small kegs of chemical agents as well. Sprinting past the enemy traps will cause them to miss you about 30% of the time, saving you damage.

Damage Incorporated

Damage… once your armor is gone, your very vulnerable. Your one self revive is all you will have to get you back up on your feet, minus a revive from your Team mate. Self revive is timed, it will take a bit for you to get back up on your feet if no enemy is shooting at you. If they are shooting at you, see if you can crawl out of the line of fire, or shoot back and kill an enemy. By eliminating one Call of Duty Mw3 enemy, the self revive will go away and you will be back on your feet. It is best to suck it up and buy a new suit of armor and a revive, especially if it is close to a round where Juggernauts and helicopters are about to appear. If cash is low, pick what you think is best and take it from there.

Prioritize and Reload !

Pick the highest priority you are faced with, and dont feel overwhelmed when many enemies are approaching you. Its OK to throw a flash bang and then eliminate the majority of the enemies that are close. Take cover around a corner to reload if necessary and remember – you can knife enemies at close range as well. ALWAYS reload your weapon when you get a chance. Thats an extremely important step that eventually will become second nature.

Know your Surroundings

Now for cover. In any of the Call of Duty MW3 games, Spec Ops Missions, Survival or Multiplayer, cover is your friend. In the Call of Duty MW3 Missions, its best to look for some cover, sprint to it and then hit your crouch key. That should limit your area of they have to hit significantly. Take your time, and slowly position yourself to attack the enemies. Don’t gt tunnel vision becuase enemies can certainly surround you without warning. Pay attention to your main screen. If your taking damage, there is a red indicator that will show if it is coming from the right, left, front or back of you.

So now for the scenario about the Call of Duty massive attack on you. Typically what can happen is the Team is trapped inside a small area, and there typically is one Juggernaut close and at least two helicopters. Its best to stand in the doorway where the Juggernaut is approaching and throw an airstrike about 5 paces from where he is at. Once he is close to the purple marker throw a flash bang grenade. If the smoke is close to your door entrance, the helicopters may be hovering overhead and will either take damage or be destroyed when the airstrike hits, freeing you up momentarily. So act fast, reload and get the remaining helicopters down. That will free you up to move around without having to take damage out in the open.

Kill off all the normal enemies first. That way, the remaining enemies on your radar screen will be the location of the Juggernauts. If at all possible, the team can seperate, if the remaining Juggernauts are following one team mate. The free Team Mate can try to kill the juggernauts with gunfire from behind, or run and buy a Predator Missile or Airstrike and finish them off that way.

Call of Duty MW3 makes you think. Plus there are usually subtle hints – objects, Guns or your surroundings that you may be able to benefit from. All you need is a plan, a decent Team mate and a location on a Call of Duty MW3 Spec Ops survival map that you can defend, and the game is on. When the heat turns up, don’t panic, its only a game. Try a tactic from above and worse case scenario, use a flash bang and take it from there. Need more advice? Feel free to respond to this post and I will see what I can come up with. Happy Hunting in Call of Duty MW3 Spec Ops Mission and Survival maps !

Call of Duty MW3 Spec Ops Mission Negotiator on Veteran – Complete !

This Call of Duty MW3 Spec Ops Mission Negotiator on Veteran was fun, and frustrating along the way. You really have to be on your toes and check ammo, movement and types of weapons you plan on carrying.

I played this on Veteran, solo so I had the opportunity to take screenshots and show you what I think is important along the way.

When I played solo, you start off in the back of a room, which has two guards toward the exit. You objective is to grab the guards’ pistol and killed both guards.

Once you have eliminated both MW3 enemy guards, you have the possibility to pick up an assault rifle from both. That is not always the case. I sometimes only get one, because I think the guard lays on it and your not able to pick it up.  For this area, one is enough.

Pick up your goodies – including the Flash Bang grenades and the Frag grenades. Its EXTREMELY important to save those Flash bangs for late in the mission !

Once you have the goodies hurry to the first door to breach. Once the breach gos off, there will be FOUR enemies, but one gets killed due to the breach explosion. Kill the remaining three, being extra careful not to kill any hostages.

Once your done rescuing the hostages, its time to make weapons choices. I HIGHLY recommend picking at least the G36C up from a dead enemy. Then re-load it and approach the tarp of weapons in the back of the room. There you should be able to pick up another G36C and combine the rounds which will give you 420 rounds for that gun ! Plus, many enemies will drop the G36C in this mission. It Re-loads REAL fast and packs a punch.

Grab weapons and stand near exit

Once your weapons are chosen, approach the backdoor. There will be TWO CoD MW3 enemies in the courtyard, so be careful. DONT wander too far off the porchway or all heck will break loose. Dont wander past the concrete wall to my left.

Once those CoD MW3 enemies are down, its time for the alleyway . I throw at least two FRAG grenades out and go up to the crates and crouch behind them. There will be at least FOUR eneies in this alley way. By whipping the grenades, your creating the 4-5 enemy to run around in circles making them easier to kill. Watch out for a CoD MW3 enemy on the top of the stairs.

Call of Duty MW3 Spec Ops Mission Negotiator Alley Fight

Call of Duty MW3 Spec Ops Mission Negotiator Alley Fight

Once they are eliminated, if your using the G36C assault rifle, its time to reload, as several here may have dropped the same weapon.  You CAN run back into the weapons room and restock your FRAG grenades you used, simply by walking over them, and then going up the alley way, to your right.

From behind a fence you will see a few enemies climbing a fence. Take them out with as little rounds as you can. Shortly after they are down, as many as THREE enemies will come out a doorway to your right. make sure you have plenty of ammo to knock them down. You may be able to reload your G36C here and pick up some ammo from dropped weapons.

Go inside the house carefully. At the top of the stairs there will be at least THREE enemies to knock out. Once they are down, you’ll have to breach a door. Once the door is breached, there will be THREE enemies in there. be careful though, because there are hostages in there as well.

CoD MW3 Spec Ops Negotiator House breach
Once this room is clear, immediately turn around and crouch in the doorway. a Door in front of you and to your left are ab out to be filled with CoD Enemies. There should be at least FOUR enemies coming at you. Sometmes there is a FIFTH, so keep a watchful eye out.

Once those enemies are down, stay in this area for a second. Decide if you need to travel all the way back to the weapons area and load up on frag grenades and weapons. Ready up, because its about to get ugly.

Once you try to approach the road outside this room, your going to have a massive battle on your hands. You have three choices. One is to go outside and man the Golden Turret in hopes that you can kill all the enemies that approach. Another tactic is to run out the door in the front and run back into the last room you just breached, and pick the enemies off one at a time. The other tactic is to go out the door to the left and then sprint behind a car and crouch down, and pick them off from there. The last tactic is my choice, as the enemies are easier to see and pick off from behind the cars.

CoD MW3 Spec Ops Mission Negotiator - hide behind cars

CoD MW3 Spec Ops Mission Negotiator - hide behind cars

There will be a good amount of enemies to kill here, I didnt count how many there were, but you really have to pay attention, and be EXTREMELY careful. there may be several enemies hiding to the back right hand side behind some pillars, and being this CoD MW3 mission is on Veteran, three bullets and you are out.

Once the streets are clear, you can approach what I call the fortress. You have to breach the door, and kill 4 enemies. BUT thats not all. In the middle of the room is a big bomb you have to diffuse. Breach the room, kill the enemies from the BACK of the room forward. Doing this will make the slow motion last longer. Once the slow motion has stopped throw a FLASH bang grenade, just over the bomb and diffuse it. You can use a second FLASH bang so you can find some cover, like the small passages left or right JUST before the door you just breached. You can hop up and peek over the wdge of the brickwork and pick off the enemies as they show your face. You have to be extremely careful in this area, its crawling with enemy.

Once the room is clear, you can approach the last room to breach which is upstairs.

CoD MW3 Spec Ops Mission Negotiator Fortress area clear

There will be at least THREE enemies in the last room, and a handful of hostages as well. Be careful in there. You CAN kill some of the hostages in order to get the 3 stars, as I had to since there wasnt much seperation between a hostage and an enemy in there. I wasn’t about to get all the way to the end to fail.

So there you have it, a semi brief description and a handful of pictures to boot.

Good luck on  getting the veteran and three stars on Call of Duty MW3 Spec Ops Mission Negotiator !

Call of Duty MW3 – Delta and Riot Squads – $5,000 Cannon Fodder

Of all things in Battle, one would think the cost of a Riot Squad, these Bozos would be a little smarter. I RARELY use this asset in Call of Duty Mw3 because they get in the way of my line of fire as well as the line of fire of the sentries, especially the grenade sentries at short range.

Fair warning – If you ever team up with me I highly suggest keeping the Call of Duty MW3 Riot and Delta squads away from me. If they tick me off they may eat claymores or I’ll buy an airstrike to get rid of the menacing obstacles once and for all.

For those that buy the Call of Duty MW3 Riot and Delta squads way early in the game, your squandering cash. Worry about weapons, and an Airstrike/Predator missile, sentry guns or setting claymores to kill enemies at a distance. The Call of Duty MW3 Riot and Delta squads cost in the neighborhood of 5000 and don’t last as long as they should. The return on investment is hardly worth it.

For about the same amount of cash, I can get 5 claymores and a Grenade sentry gun. The Grenade Sentry gun can produce long range kills with some hefty bonuses for doing so. When a Juggernaut approaches, and you use a few flash, the explosions of the Grenade Sentry gun actually damages the Juggernaut alot more than 3 of the Call of Duty MW3 Riot and Delta squads can. The 5 claymores can cover the flank/backside of your Sentry gun and you.

I see little benefit to the Call of Duty MW3 Riot and Delta squad assets. Most of the time they will hang around with the person who did NOT purchase them, which means they will follow me like a lost puppy. I want my kills so I can buy stuff that I consider necessary to get as far as I can in the Waves. I think long term, cost effective gameplay in Call of Duty Mw3. The Call of Duty MW3 Riot and Delta squads don’t ever come into that equation in my books.

Call of Duty MW3 New DLC Map Pack

I’ve been having a blast with these new maps. I especially like the idea of Call of Duty MW3 survival and mission maps. I have had decent success with the four new survival maps. I have managed to hook up with a wide variety of players. Some of these Call of Duty MW3 players are decent, others just hurtin’ for lack of a better way to describe it.

I don’t mind playing these map solo – sometimes I can go farther than with a Team mate becuase the cash can be all mine, and I can buy what I need to survive the waves. So far, solo I think I am in the range of 14 on most of the new Call of Duty MW3 survival maps.

One map – Liberation, I seen that if you camp upstairs in the building which has the tunnel below, you can get the enemy to camp and wait on you, I am always thinking, so I ran down below and bought an airstrike. I ran back upstairs, killing three enemy that were coming into the doorway upstairs. I went to the window, peeked and see like 4 enemies camped in between the crates. I whipped the smoke grenade at the bottom of the base of a crate pile and watched.

Call of Duty Mw3 Survival map Liberation airstrike tactic

I watched and took screenies as the airstrike commenced and was rewarded with this awesome Call of Duty MW3 Screenshot. Look at the Enemy flying to the left, and the rocket propelled water bottles to the right. I didn’t see these when I looked at the screenshot the first time. I was paying too close attention to the colors and detail of the airstrike.

I laughed pretty hard when I seen this:

Call of Duty Mw3 air strike on new map liberation on camped enemies

The last decent screenshot was when the dust started to settle, rewarding me with another 1000 and a kill streak of 500. It ended up giving me at least 2500. I have no idea how much that airstrike got me in return cash,  I was concentrating on taking screenshots more than paying attention to accumulated cash. After the airstrike, the remaining enemies came up from the tunnels and that wave was over.

Call of Duty MW3 Spec Ops survival map Liberation airstike finish

Call of Duty MW3 Spec Ops survival map Liberation airstike finish

The hardest new Call of Duty MW3 survival map – to me anyways is the Over watch. There is alot of wide open spaces, and Team mates can get seperated easily. PLUs there are many who try to go where they shouldn’t and end up falling to their demise, and ending the game. If you fall off the edge the game ends, so watch where you leap, or even walk. Some of the walkways have areas with sketchy flooring and its extremely easy to fall of the building.

The Negotiator mission is a blast, and its very difficult on Veteran, The new achievements seen to be tied tied to these maps – and thats a shame. It looks like there is very little to do in the new survival maps to get achievements.

So far its a thumbs up for this map pack. Hopefully these new Call of Duty MW3 DLC map packs will continue, and offer more Spec Ops Mission and Survival maps, which I am very fond of.

Now just GET RID of the infinity nat / lag issue and all will be well.

Call of Duty MW3 NAT issues

This was my 2nd battle about the Call of Duty MW3 NAT issue.  When I first started playing Call of Duty MW3, and about every Call of Duty Mw3 Spec Ops game was unplayable. There was a TON of Lag.  Look to the Bottom of this post for helpful info……

I have a decent connection; 25 mb down/10mb up. It has a decent router and is a wired, static network. All the Call of Duty MW3 ports are forwarded to a specific machine, and when I am gaming I tend to limit the other family members usage on the internet. But the Infinity Ward Unanswered question of Spec Ops Lag continues.

I checked everything on my side of the network and after a few hours of frustration, I posted this:

I am pretty well versed in security and networking, and I cannot believe the issues that pop up in games from time to time. ALOT of people are having issues with Call of Duty Modern Warfare in Spec Ops. The Warning shows up in Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 and 3, saying that there is a NAT issue. Well In COD MW3, the Infinity Ward offers a page which is useless. It sits there and locks up the web browser. Nothing shows so I have to kill the web page with Task manager. So much for a fix. Infinity Ward seems more tuned in with shoving a game out that has issues, than providing a great gaming experience.

I will say complain to Activision and Infinity Ward about the Call of Duty Mw3 NAT issue alot in this post, so it makes it to the top of a few Search engines. Try the phone numbers at the bottom of this post.

The CoD MW3 and CoD MW2 NAT issue seems to exist only in the Spec Ops portion of the game. For me, nothing else seems to be affected…. Why ? Multiplayer and Single player are fine. What ever Infinity Ward has done to this portion of the game and how they handle the NAT issue should tell gamers that they care more about your cash than your gaming experience.

Gamers, you have two choices. Let your voice be heard, or just silently or vocally boycott the sale of thier games. Should be called Infinately Wont and Hactivision – seems more appropriate for the moment.

Want to complain? Here is some contact information. Complain alot to Activision and Infinity Ward. Then they will be forced to correct the issue. When I used to game heavily, games like Battlefiled 2142 and others NEVER had any issues. You get some company in the loop that says they can provide a service, and they don’t. They have issues that cannot be corrected in a timely manner. This shows there isn’t any metrics, SLA or contract clauses that can be measured or violates the contract. Its all about grabbing your dollars and they hope you will return for more of the same pain and agony. You want pain and agony ? Simply burn the cash rather than making these companies that have issues (like this NAT issue problem) richer.

Complain to Activision and Infinity Ward about the MW3 NAT issue alot. Call the Toll Free number, or other number below. Open up a ticket and call back on a regular basis and ask for an update. They will become so frustrated, much like you – that they may fix the problem quicker. I didn’t buy this game to wade thru multiplayer hacks. I bought it to play single player and Spec Ops. With the Spec Ops Nat issues, its a pain in my ass. Let them be as frustrated as you are. You can post your comments online – they don’t give a crap unless you let them know directly. So give them a call, complain to Activision and Infinity Ward about the Call of Duty Mw3 NAT issue and then call back in 3 days and ask again.

Don’t let them tell you its an issue with your system. Its the way they designed the networking portion of the game. How many other games have the same issue? Why does the NAT issue only happen in Spec Ops? if it was YOUR problem the NAT issue would happen in Death Match, Capture the Flag, and other Multiplayer session…If it doesn’t happen on other games, its a software design FLAW (programmers HATE the word FLAW by the way) from the people responsible for it. Complain to Activision and Infinity Ward about the Call of Duty Mw3 NAT issue . Otherwise your excepting their way of doing business.

Whether or not the toll free number is willing to do anything about it or not, it doesn’t matter. The game recieves the highest awards means the people who test and Vote DO NOT test it fully, or they are paid off for thier votes. With this NAT issue, its a prime example of what people should expect from these software companies. Fix it or fill an earful of ticked off customers. Call toll free and complain to Activision and Infinity Ward about the Call of Duty Mw3 NAT issue !

None of the information they ask for below is related to a NAT issue. Be calm and persistent and let them know that this is unacceptable. THEY can say “I’m sorry” and I quickly say, I know you are, but what are you going to do to fix this NAT issue? Say I will NOT buy any future games with your Brand on it since your having these kind of issues with your software. Complain to Activision and Infinity Ward about the Call of Duty Mw3 NAT issue !

SOME USEFUL INFORMATION to assist in the Call of Duty MW3 and Infinity Ward NAT Issue:

I posted this NAT issue topic for those that have the issue. I hope the information helps.

You can make it play a bit better by turninmg off any recording / theatre recording the game does, and by adding the ports into your router, forwarding those ports to the PC or other device that you play MW3 on.

From inside your router, you should see a forwarding tab.
Inside the Forwarding Tab, there might be a “SERVICE MANAGEMENT” button. This is where you can add port information.

I added the following information for my MW3 ports

MW3 UDP Ports 27000-27030
MW3 UDP Port 3074
MW3 TCP Ports 27014-27050
MW3 TCP Port 3074

Once you added them to your service management area in the router, you can then add them to your port forwarding area. Use the Pull down menu to find the first one you added. Then, tell the router which IP address you want to forward those ports to. Do all four, then make sure you hit SAVE before leaving that area.

One of the boxes will ask you for your IP address. This can be found by going to START=>Run=>type in CMD=>type in IPCONFIG

If you need to see additional info use the follwing command instead:
IPCONFIG /ALL (space between Config and /all)

That shows your current IP address. If your IP comes from your ISP directly to your computer, or if you have a router that is set up to give out DHCP addresses, this will change alot. If you have a router, you can go into the router and maximize the length of the DHCP lease, and the IP should stay for quite some time (maybe 90 days or more). It Only takes a minute to check the IP of your machine using the DOS prompt and typing IPConfig. IF it does change, then you will have to go into the Port Forwarding area and change the IP Adress to your new one on the listed ports above. Most people have DHCP addresses (IP addresses that change). Very few use Static Ip addresses (that stay the same).

I use STATIC IP’s on all my stuff here, makes it easier to locate, and when I look thru logs, it is easier to find what I am looking for.

If you have a software firewall on your PC, ensure the service named IW5MP.exe is allowed to connect to the internet, and has limited restrictions on it.

Providing that information to the Customer service Rep about the NAT issue will show that you know what you are talking about. If they refuse to help, ask to speak with a supervisor, or request an email or contact information for the Corporate Office. If you ask for the Corporate information, and they give it to you, use it. send them a post card or a well thought out letter. Keep it clean and to the point. Then, they will have a clue as to what the hell is going on with the NAT issue.

Good Luck !

Call of Duty MW3 Map Pack Collection 1 for PC

Last night after a battle of wits, I finally purchased the Call of Duty MW3 Map Pack Collection 1. After I purchased the CoD MW3 map pack and fired up the game, I was pleasantly surprised to see that I had at least four Call of Duty MW3 Spec Ops Mission and a handful of Call of Duty MW3 Spec Ops Mission maps.

Once you choose Call of Duty MW3 Spec Ops play, there will be some white text directly under each picture  where you choose either Survival and Missions – which refers to playing the new maps. These new Call of Duty MW3 Spec Ops Survival and Missions maps aren’t listed in the same place the other ones are. You’ve gone too deep if you see the the older maps like Bakaara, Lockdown, Bootleg and others. Go up one level and look for the white text below where you choose either Call of Duty MW3 Spec Ops Survival or Mission Maps. Click the Text, and then the new maps should appear by themselves. I am sure a future release will change the menu issues, but this is a very mild issue. I am just pumped to see the new maps and challenges ahead.

I quickly ran through each survival map to get the feel for each, ad I think I found at least one decent camping spot on two of the Call of Duty MW3 survival maps in Map pack collection 1.

I was a bit surprised to see just one other player on the new Call of Duty MW3 map pack 1. I seen a Team mate I have been Teaming up with lately to try and achieve higher wave leves on some of the orginal survival maps, and I told him of the release of Call of Duty MW3 Map pack collection 1. It was getting late, so while we waited for his confirmation email and activiation code from Activision for Steam, we decided to try the Call of Duty MW3 Spec Ops Survival Map called Bootleg. That map is just mean. We tried it several times, and couldn’t get past wave 15. Maybe another night when its a bit earlier, and I have some critical thinking and quickness left.

Tonight I plan on firing up the new Call of Duty MW3 Spec Ops Survival map named Black Box, which is a crashed Air Force One in a residential area. There is a house with a large wine rack, next to a half bath. This is shaped like a “T”, with the only way out back there by bailing out a window if it gets too hot. I like this intersection because I only have to concentrate whats in front of me, and I have adequate cover from grenades that may be tossed and random weapons fire.

I don’t believe it is a good tactic area for Team play. My intended use for this area is when I am playing Call of Duty MW3 Spec Ops Survival map Black Box solo, or with a person that wants to be the individualist. The doorway is too small and it can get crowded in that small “T” passage for two people. I am sure there is a place on Call of Duty MW3 Spec Ops Survival map Black Box that offers cover, and the ability to use a grenade launcher sentry gun and wipe out the CoD MW3 enemies. If I find that sweetspot, I will let you know.

Come to think of it, there is another map – the name escapes me – that has a circular courtyard on the extreme upper right hand side of the map that has a wine cellar with four or five large barrels of wine in it. Playing that map solo, I camped in there and used a bunch of Claymores. It was EXTREMELY close to the Explosive Armory. Since it was my first attempt on the Call of Duty MW3 Spec Ops Survival map, I thought I would sit there and watch the CoD MW3 enemies approach.

One other map that shows a variety of heavy equipment, I found a small maze of tunnels and found it pretty easy to find a corner, peek out and eliminate all the enemies that approached. Again, not the best tactic when in a game with a Team mate, but to get acclimated to the map, its best to find a strategy that works for you.

The last map I attempted was one that you spawn in on the roof of a building. I didnt take a good look around since I was almost instantly surrounded by CoD MW3 enemies. My initial reaction was – WOW where you spawn in would be a GREAT spot for Sentry turrets and Grenade Launcher Sentries. It was pretty wide open, offering little cover for those CoD Enemies.

I have a theory. I think these new Call of Duty MW3 Spec Ops Survival maps may not be tweeked to an official level when released. I think they monitor the release and see if there is a need to make the difficulty higher than originally released. If there is a need to re-tweek the map, they just update it and push the new version of the Call of Duty MW3 Spec Ops Survival map through Steam. I am going to try and get through as many waves on Call of Duty MW3 Spec Ops Survival map Blackbox as possible over the next few days. I played the Call of Duty MW3 Spec Ops Survival map Black Box solo last night, and made it to Wave 9 before I planted, and accidentally ate one of my own Claymores. I heard the barking of dogs which I thought were two, and shot one, moved forward seen another coming and shot that one as well. I planted the Claymore, turned around and seen a 3rd dog coming. Boom. Game over. Bummer, I could have made it further. I had over 9,000 in pocket. = \

So my initial reaction to the new Call of Duty MW3 Spec Ops Survival and Missions
maps is favorable – so far. On the harder levels, there seems to be an increase in the amount of enemy that approach, which is cool. Its alway nice to get above 3000 in the first round. It makes it easier to purchase equipment prior to the helicopters and Juggernauts approaching. I’ll update this post with some pictures as soon as I can. I hope you all will enjoy the new Call of Duty MW3 Spec Ops Survival and missions maps as I intend to.

Call of Duty MW3 Survival Tactics

While doing Battle in Call of Duty MW3, you typically find something that works for you. Your Battle Plan has worked for many, many waves, so why do people end up getting out of their comfort zone and putting themselves in harms way?

For the life of my charecter, I cannot help but say my two cents worth. If you leap in a heated battle where there is just a few seconds to revive you, the odds of that happening is highly unlikely.

All of the Call of Duty Survival maps have a place thats just big enough for two Team mates to hunker down and hold their own. That DOESN’T mean that you have to stay there. If you have sentry guns, you can protect that area with a scattering of Claymores. Then you can move around together to other locations, or head out and restock for the next wave.

One other thing. When your feeling the need to restock, and the location is pretty far away, where there are 1 or 2 enemies left on the wave, simply start running towards your location. As long as you get 1/3 to 1/2 way there before you have to kill the enemy off, your alot closer to the armory than having to risk running all the way there and getting surrounded on your way back.

Playing with a little caution can make you go a long way.  For example, my best on some of the Call of Duty MW3 Survival Maps are:

Teams

Call of Duty MW3 Spec Ops Survival Map - Resistance               27

Call of Duty MW3 Spec Ops Survival Map – Village                     26

Call of Duty MW3 Spec Ops Survival Map – Interchange           26

Call of Duty MW3 Spec Ops Survival Map – Underground         30

Call of Duty MW3 Spec Ops Survival Map – Dome                       21

Call of Duty MW3 Spec Ops Survival Map – Mission                    21

Call of Duty MW3 Spec Ops Survival Map  – SeaTown                32

Call of Duty MW3 Spec Ops Survival Map – Carbon                    19

Call of Duty MW3 Spec Ops Survival Map – Bootleg                    15

Call of Duty MW3 Spec Ops Survival Map – Hardhat                   15

Call of Duty MW3 Spec Ops Survival Map – Fallen                       15

Call of Duty MW3 Spec Ops Survival Map – Outpost                    25

Call of Duty MW3 Spec Ops Survival Map – Loockdown              19

Call of Duty MW3 Spec Ops Survival Map – Arkaden                   31

Call of Duty MW3 Spec Ops Survival Map – Downturn                 16

Call of Duty MW3 Spec Ops Survival Map – Bakaara                     19

These maps aren’t that hard. What I recommend you have in stock is the MINIMUM:

4 Flash Bangs

G36C Assault Rifle - fast loading and packs a great punch to knock down enemies. This gun knocks down the rubber suited, gas mask wearing enemy very fast – something that most LMG lack. Its an AWESOME weapon of choice in heated battles.

MG36 Light Machine Gun. Packs less of a punch, but does the job. Lot of rounds.

10 Claymores

An Airstrike or a Predator Missile

and a Sentry Gun(s) suitable for the location your defending.

When playing SOLO you are allowed TWO sentry guns, and you should take advantage of them if you have room and they are placed correctly, when a Juggernaut steps in the room and you throw a flashbang grenade, between the sentries and your gun, you should be able to take it out with ease.

Staying in a spot, or simply called Camping, will get you alot of cash in the first six or more rounds. You should buy stuff that will assist you in getting more kills quicker thus getting you a lot of bonus money.

Its always best to have the Sentry Gun(s) under a decent cov er where the appearance of enemy choppers cannot kill them off. This is sometimes a learning experience, as I have placed a few turrets that I thought were completely safe, only to see them get destroyed by an over zealous chopper.

Claymores can cover your backside. E#vden though you think an enemy may never come from a direction, its always best to have 1 or 2 hidden aound a corner or object. That can be a warning sign, or as a worse case scenario, you can have a trail of 10 claymores in a specific area that is not well traveled by normal enemies. THAT can be the way you drag the Juggernaut(s) in order to kill them off.

I have written a few decent Call of Duty MW3 strategies on this blog and I think if you read through a few, you will get a decent Idea of how to keep your hide from getting exposed, and being able to get into Wave 20, 30 or even higher.

Sometime in the near future, I will attempt to describe my tactics on my favorite maps, complete with pictures and what I use to get to Wave 25 or higher on these Call of Duty Spec Ops Survival Maps.

Good Luck – Stay out of harms way and throw that flash bang should things get too hot !

Call of Duty Spec Ops Survival

Most of the times in Spec Ops battles I can hold my own in Call of Duty Spec Ops Survival maps. I hooked up with a Team mate who I have not seen in quite some time, and it was good to see him online again.

He told me about his Battle strategy and he got me to thinking about it. So I fired up a Call of Duty Spec Ops Survival map, Resistance and I wanted to see how far I could get SOLO battling the Call of Duty MW3 enemies.

I made it to Wave 25. I should have survived to level 30+. I thought Juggernauts were coming on 25, when they come on level 26. Booooo Live and learn LOL.  Let me tell you how I survived inCall of Duty Spec Ops Survival map Resistance to Wave 25.

I bought TWO sentries, one of each – a Gatlin gun sentry and a Grenade sentry. I put them in the house with the kitchen and the yellow couch. I placed them on the wall behind the coffee table, near the yellow couch. This Battle method CRUSHED the enemies thru wave 25, even killing a Juggernaut without a problem. In 25 rounds, I lost two sentries (one of each type) but have more than ample cash to replace.

My primary guns were the:

MG36 Light Machine Gun – This packs a PUNCH and reloads quicker than other LMG’s

MG36 Assault rifle – This packs Serious punch and it reloads REALLY fast.

Being in that house, set up for battle helped funnel the enemies towards the sentries on that back wall. On the backdoor which is a pile of rubble leading out towards the weapons and explosive armory is where I would spread out 4 or 5 claymores to help kill off any enemies that would appproach.  I had extra cash and regular frag grenades which I would throw in that direction. Most would roll down the ramp and kill people on the way, or scatter the enemy so the turrets could take them out.

I finally realized that the MAX number of Juggernauts that will come on any Survival round is THREE . Now, that seems like alot to battle, but its really isn’t that much once the smaller enemy is killed off. Anticipate when the Juggernaut rounds will be and have 10 claymores in pocket, four flashbang grenades and an AIRSTRIKE. Why an airstrike? Because they only require you to throw them out, and then maybe a Flashbang grenade to stun the enemies and then, if the Airstrike purple smoke is in the middle of the road or courtyard, its going to wipe everything out.

On Wave 24, its important to kill off everything BUT the Helicopter. Leave the helicopter fly around. You can run and restock, especially for claymores, ammo and an Airstrike.  You can set up the backdoor area of the Gift shop with well placed claymores to kill off Juggernauts (described below).

This picture was taken when I was on Wave 20, when 3 Juggernauts showed. I was depleted of ammo so I was running from the Juggernauts. I had 2 in tow, the other cut through where the sentries were and was killed off easily by the sentry guns.  The other two Juggernauts I managed to lure in the street near the gift shop – pretty close to the Air Strike armory. I threw the smoke, then a flashbang. I killed one instantly and the last Juggernaut was severely damaged, requiring just a small burst of rounds. That was a pretty easy round, actually. Take a look at this screenshot. had all three Juggernauts been together a single air strike could have EASILY taken them out.

Call of Duty MW3 Killing Juggernauts the easy way.

Call of Duty MW3 Killing Juggernauts the easy way.

When there are Juggernauts and regular enemies, its best to have all 10 claymores placed near corners and inn locations where the enemy CANNOT shoot them.  Doing so will knock down the smaller enemies and allow you to concentrate on the Juggernauts. While being away from the Sentries, you can cut through that room and some of the smaller enemies will probably do so as well, and pay the price for doing so.

If you can get all three Juggernauts to group up together by throwing a carefully placed Flashbang grenade then when all three are bunched, draw them to a location which is pretty wide and open. Try to avoid using an Airstrike where there are buildings really close together, or big trucks. This way you can bounce the smoke on the ground, see it, then back up and throw a flash bang grenade and soon after the Airstrike will pummel that surrounding location.

Knowing what I do know about the Waves the Juggernauts show up in Call of Duty MW3 and the successful experiences I have had with the Airstrikes I will always take an airstrike over a Predator Missile. Predator Missiles require you to locate a Juggernaut amongst several different enemies, and they all are Red squares. Only one Team mate can use a Preadtor at a time, the other is held in limbo until the first Team mate is done, which can muddy the position of the remaining Juggernaut(s). Its simply easier to throw an airstrike and know that if thrown in front of the Juggernaut(s), followed by a Flash, all enemies in that area are going to be pummeled.

The Gift Shop back door area is a good place to lay down 10 claymores through the winding pathway when you want to tow some Juggernauts through that maze. proper placement of the claymores will damage the Juggernauts before they have a chance to shoot the claymores, and the more damage they take the easier they will be able to kill. The Gift shop back door is also a way to get some distance between you and enemies, and those pesky choppers.

Hope this post Helps !

Call of Duty MW3 weird errors

Over the past few weeks I have noticed a handful of really strange errors that pop up. Its more than likely associated with the network flow between players, but  here they are.

The error above occurred in a game when I was playing with a pretty regular person, and there was no sign of lag at all in Call of Duty MW3. It just crashed me to the desktop, and Call of Duty MW3, complained it had issues.

The next one was:

I know what a buffer overflow is, but a RELIABLE One? Is there such a thing? I don’t know any buffer overflow that is good or reliable.

And the latest, and last….for now….

I have a decent connection, its typicaqlly 25 down and about 10 up. The CPU here is pretty fast, Its an Intel I-7 2600 quad core,  no lame equipment or services here.

Every once in a while, there isn’t an explanation for lag or errors, these things just happen. When an error occurs, its best to at LEAST crash to your desktop before playing Call of Duty MW3. If the problem persists, then, shut down the router and cable modem, along with your machine. Power up your Cable Modem, then your router, then your CPU.

Call of Duty MW3 World record Survival Maps

I have looked at the Call of Duty MW3 World record Survival Mode levels which people have gone to. Some of these Call of Duty MW3 World record on survival maps have way too much running away from the enemy.

Though getting to the level at which they have obtained is impressive, their strategies like running in circles is not. Sure, the age old addage of “run away to fight another day” may apply in some situations, but look, there usually is a better way.

One of the Call of Duty MW3 World record in survival maps video shows the enemy traveling in one large group. On Underground, all you have to do is lure them into the building where the weapons armory is, and throw a flashbang, then, throw an airstrike grenade. That roof is made out of glass, so use it to your advantage ! in a NON Juggernaut round, I have made well over 5000 on one airstrike by having the air armory to my back on Underground and throwing a smoke grenade to the top of the stairs at that weapon armory glass house.

Claymores do little to the Shield carrying Juggernauts. Its best to use flash bangs and surround them and shoot them while they are down. Claymores need to be hidden around corners and places where enemies cannot shoot them. Placing claymores out in the open is a waste of cash and are dangerous. Some people will even place 6-10 claymores in a small area, for what ?!  If one goes off, the other more than likely will trigger as well. THINK before you place claymores in Call of Duty MW3.

Remember, shooting the Juggernauts at a distance in the Faceplate or Neck is the prime place to kill them. I may try killing them at a medium to long distance with a .50 Caliber Sniper rifle, in places that you can have some cover so you can get 3-4 shots off at a minimum. Get distance between yourself and the Juggernauts by using one flash bang. The radius of effect seems pretty good, so you dont have to be greatly accurate with the flash bang. Bounce the flash bang off something if you need a short range throw, even if it is off the ground in front of you.

Typically the Juggernauts will lock onto the closest Team mate. That can work as an advantage as one Team mate can drag the Juggernaut(s) around, while the other buys toys to kill them off. The subtle “preditor missile ready for deployment” means get the Juggernauts in an open space, and throw a flash bang, and RUN.

One more thing, don’t draw the Juggernauts to your sentry guns unless you absolutely have to. Dmage them as much as you can and bring them  up a path where the Sentry gun has a clear long shot at them. As soon as the Juugernaut gets within site of the sentry gun, throw a flash bang and you, maybe a Team mate and the sentry gun(s) can take them out with ease.

I am sure the Call of Duty MW3 World record in survival maps can be beaten, or increased if there is alot of coordination / communication. Alot of the higher levels the enemies come rushing VERY quickly at you in open spaces. So, if you know that, why aren’t you in a Building or an area where there are doorways that limit the avenue of attack? Only so many enemies can come through a door at one time.

Grenade launcher sentrries are the absolute best asset to have on the map. The Riot teams, though semi-helpful at times, get in the way and end up getting destroyed by a predator or an airstrike. Basically they cost 5,000 for acting as cannon fodder. I pass on Delta and Riot teams.

A flashbang followed by an air strike can earn masive cash. I will buy Airstrikes over predators, because air strikes offer a wide area of coverage and will not only kill Juggernauts with ease, but about everything else in the area as well.

So when you are trying to get above 30 on any survival map, head to a decent choke point, load up with flash bangs, two decent weapons and your favorite aircraft attack and brace for shock. Good luck on your quest to surpass Call of Duty MW3 World record on the survival maps !
